This Movie-Making Masterclass day will not only draw on your team's creativity and offer loads of fun, they will learn skills that can be used to benefit the work of your organisation, with tons of tricks and tips on storytelling and creating fabulous video content to take away.

There is something for everyone to get stuck into, whether they are comfortable in front of the camera or happier working behind the scenes.

After a morning’s masterclass on film-making with a BAFTA award-winning director, you will split into teams to script, record and produce a short film. Weather-dependent, filming can take place inside or outside. After a break for some delicious food, you can welcome friends, family and any other supporters to a glitzy film premiere!

See your short films come to life on the big screen in a former IMAX cinema and enjoy an awards ceremony where the Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and more will be presented with a trophy.

The Workshop Team

Richard Bradley

Richard is a multiple BAFTA award-winning director with more than twenty years’ experience in television and film production. Richard also has major brand experience of product launches and commercials with clients such as Peugeot and ITV. A natural storyteller, with a director’s eye for performance and detail, Richard is more than qualified to help you create something spectacular for the big screen.

Luke Evans

After studying Media Production, Luke honed his craft scriptwriting for both EastEnders and Hollyoaks, which is where he developed his art of storytelling with a creative eye. Passionate about everything creative, and with an RTS Best Short Documentary under his belt, you couldn’t ask for better support in scripting and producing an impressive short film.

The Venue

Millennium Point, Birmingham

Your event would include exclusive use of the versatile PLATFORM space at Millenium Point, including break out rooms that can be used during the day for filming and recording. Throughout the workshop, teams would have plenty of room to practice their film-making techniques and tables to use for brainstorming and creating their movie storyboard. For the evening, this space will transform into a spectacular dining area for guests to enjoy before entering the IMAX Cinema quality auditorium for the film premiere.

Film Premier

Millennium Point, Birmingham

The evening celebrations allow for the inclusion of invited guests to join you and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Invite friends, family members, colleagues and supporters. Our movie stars and guests will enjoy the full red carpet treatment and the premiere and awards ceremony is inclusive of:

  • A professional host to compere the evening
  • Technician to run AV and lighting
  • Expert judging panel
  • Engraved award trophies
  • Audience participation to vote for a ‘People’s Favourite’
  • Photographer

You can choose to include your guests in the evening’s dining experience if you wish, or just the premiere and awards ceremony. We can manage a chargeable ticket platform on your behalf to sell tickets if required.

Itinerary

MORNING

Registration & breakfast reception
10.00am
Introduction to movie-making with a BAFTA award-winning director. Get inspired by watching examples of film shorts, then hear from expert cinematographers about filming techniques used and ways to create a compelling visual story.
10.30am
Get hands-on in teams of up to 10 people, storyboarding your own short film and trying out filming techniques with expert support.
12.00pm
Lunch
AFTERNOON
1.00pm
Teams disperse to collect footage for their mini-movie based on their storyboard. Filming will use participants’ smartphones throughout, making it easy to recreate everything they have learned at home.
2.00pm
Movie editing masterclass. Create a finished short film using simple editing software. Order your clips then add music,
voice-overs,
4.30pm
Submit final films and break to prepare for film premiere.
MOVIE PREMIERE
5.30pm
Welcome reception for guests.
6.00pm
Hot buffet served.
7.00pm
Take to the red carpet and enter the auditorium for the
screening of your films.
7.30pm
Our compere will conduct a short interview with each team as
an introduction to their film before showcasing their work
on the big screen.
8.30pm
Awards ceremony. A panel of judges will present awards for Best
Picture; Best Actor; Best Music Score; Best Storyline and more!

Catering

OPTIONS
A full range of catering options are available (please see separate menus attached). These are suggestions to demonstrate a possible menu. The day would include tea and coffee throughout and a bar facility would be available from 4.30pm.

LUNCH
Premium sandwich lunch – An assortment of hand-crafted sandwiches with a range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes served with hot potato wedges and a selection of sauces.
